P&G Appoints Gürtler Group President
BERLIN — Procter & Gamble has named Heiner Gürtler to head its new business unit that combines the Global Professional business of Wella, P&G Clairol, Prestige Beauté Fine Fragrances and Cosmopolitan Cosmetics.
Gürtler, currently the chief executive officer of Wella and president of Global Professional Hair and Cosmopolitan Cosmetics, will now assume the new position of group president of Global Prestige and Professional Care. He will report directly to A.G. Lafley, P&G’s chairman, ceo and president.
The combination of the Wella and P&G business units follows the registration of a domination agreement between the two companies in June. The agreement provided the legal basis for P&G to consolidate Wella’s activities into the American group.
Gürtler stated, “With the creation of this new business unit, Wella is taking on an increased role within P&G in both of its core competencies — prestige and professional. This structure will ensure that Wella’s prestige and professional care expertise is preserved and further developed.”
In related moves, Carsten Fischer, executive vice president of Wella Professional, America, Asia and Pacific, has been appointed president of Professional Care. He will continue to report to Gürtler and be based in Darmstadt.
Hartwig Langer, now vice president of Global Fine Fragrances, has been named president of Prestige Products. He will report to Gürtler and be based in Geneva. — Melissa Drier

For every euro spent in a participating airport store, cardholders receive 1.5 points. If 750 points are accumulated within one year, the cardholder will receive three $6 gift vouchers, or 5 euros at current exchange rates, to be used in its stores. Special bonus points will also be obtainable during the year. In the three months after its March launch, 9,000 people signed up for the ADP card.
