Inspiration for the makeup look at Alexander McQueen came from the designer’s fashion collection. With winged creatures, like birds of paradise and butterflies, in mind, Peter Philips, working with MAC Cosmetics, adhered to some models’ faces soft gray and pink feathers to form mask-like shapes. One model had her shoulders covered in feathers, while others retained their natural, practically unmade-up looks.
As for coifs at the show, hairstylist Eugene Souleiman said, “They are kind of late Forties, early Fifties, with a kind of pin-up glamour.”
