HAMBURG — Rolf Kunisch, who heads Beiersdorf’s cosmetics division, has been named president and chief executive officer of the German cosmetics and adhesives giant.
He succeeds Hans-Otto Woebcke, 63, who is retiring after serving in the top post since 1989. Board members will vote on Kunisch’s nomination at the annual meeting June 14, and he is expected to take over immediately after the vote.
Kunisch, 52, joined Beiersdorf in 1991 to run the cosmetics division, which includes the Nivea brands as well as the Juvena and La Prairie skin care businesses. Previously, he was with Procter & Gamble, where he spent eight years as director of the German subsidiary, followed by one year running P&G’s East European and Russian operations.
Uwe Woelfer, 50, who is currently responsible for the cosmetics division in Germany, will be succeeding Kunisch as chief of the corporate cosmetics division and will become a director.
Thomas Quaas, 41, who is currently the German marketing director for cosmetics, will be taking over for Woelfer.
