PARIS Models at Jean Paul Gaultier sported wigs, which came in various iterations of gray. Hairstylist Guido Palau explained that the designer believes the color can be ageless — model Kristen McMenamy being a good example.

Palau — using Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray — created a “Hitchcock-type woman, very stylized, perfected.”

Makeup artist Stéphane Marais had in mind a bourgeois woman. “She doesn’t like to be seen with too much makeup on. She has beautiful skin,” he said.

Models’ eyebrows were filled in, eyelids given some contour and eyelashes, a lot of mascara “because that’s the only makeup she allows herself to wear,” said Marais.
