NEW YORK — Indeed, life does sometimes imitate art.

Actress Kim Cattrall — who this spring wrapped up six years of playing Samantha Jones, TV’s sexiest p.r. maven, on HBO’s “Sex and the City” — is now on the other side of the p.r. fence, as the face of Liz Claiborne Cosmetics’ Spark Seduction flanker masterbrand, which entered stores last month.

Cattrall celebrated her beauty role — along with Liz Claiborne cosmetics executives Art Spiro and David Hirschler and Liz Claiborne chief Paul Charron — at a party Thursday night at the Hotel Gansevoort here.

But there’s a major difference between Cattrall’s gig and Samantha’s business, the Armani-clad actress said. “Samantha had some strange corporate clients,” she told WWD with a laugh. “Nothing nearly as glamorous as Spark Seduction.”

In fact, the actress got a firsthand look at the brand’s seductive powers at “The View” host Star Jones’ recent wedding. “Men kept coming up to me and saying, ‘Do you like how I smell?’ I thought ‘that’s an interesting pickup line,’ until I remembered the scents were in the goody bag.”

While Cattrall admitted that she’s been somewhat fickle over the years with fragrances, she says she’s found a keeper in Spark Seduction. “It’s so subtle and personal,” she said.

She thinks her alter ego would have loved it, too. “Samantha would champion anything containing the word ‘seduction,’” she cracked.
