NEW YORK -- The National Breast Cancer Coalition had one heck of a 10th birthday party Wednesday night.
Held at the Hammerstein Ballroom, the star-studded celebration included a two-hour concert given by singers Sheryl Crow and Stevie Nicks and an appearance by actress -- and Revlon spokeswoman -- Julianne Moore. The evening also honored Revlon chairman Ronald Perelman, a longtime supporter of NBCC, for his continued commitment to the organization.
"I'm thrilled to be honored by such a great organization," said Perelman, who in turn praised NBCC president Frances Visco for her dedication to the cause. "We started working together 10 years ago, and we intend to continue moving forward together with new projects. Wherever they are, we'll also be."
The benefit was co-chaired by Perelman and his wife, actress Ellen Barkin, along with John Sykes, president of VH1, and his wife Laurie, and raised more than $1.1 million for the cause. The evening included a live auction with items such as a Fender guitar signed by Sting; makeovers by Kevyn Aucoin, Serge Normant and Laura Mercier, and concert tickets. One of the more coveted prizes was a private tennis lesson from John McEnroe, which ultimately went to Perelman for a cool $21,000.
"I think that all anyone really wants in life is to have people understand us for who we actually are, despite everything," says Ruth Negga. The actress talks "Preachers" season 2 and more on WWD.com. #wwdeye (📷: Dan Doperalski)
"That's something that resonates with me too because I'm so locked into a number. If I go over that number it completely ruins my day so it's nice to get detached from the number on the scale." - Chelsea Handler on Kelly LeVeque's book "Body Love." #wwdeye (📷: John Salangsang)
