PARIS— Groupe Clarins on Monday night held a birthday bash at the Théâtre Marigny here to celebrate the 15th year of its Femme Dynamisante prize, which recognizes a woman who dedicates herself to improving the lives of children.
The award was granted to Lisa Lovatt-Smith, a former Vogue fashion director who has spent the last decade helping children in Ghana through her association OrphanAid Africa. Today, more than 250 children are involved in her organization, which she began at the age of 35 after a trip to the country with her adopted daughter.
Among the hundreds of attendees at the Clarins event were Rossy de Palma and Frédéric Mitterrand.
Lovatt-Smith was granted 45,000 euros, or $59,013 at current exchange, plus other proceeds, including a portion of the 185,000 euros, or $242,610, raised by Clarins employees and the 101,100 euros, or $132,605, stemming from an auction of special-edition L’Eau Dynamisante bottles.
L’Eau Dynamisante — the “invigorating fragrance” — turns 25 this year, and to help mark the occasion its flacon was reinterpreted by personalities and brands including Chantal Thomass, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Pierre Hermé and Zadig & Voltaire. These then were auctioned off in September.
In total, women 70 women in 14 countries around the globe have been recompensed with a Femme Dynamisante award.
