Classic glamour was the order of the day at Marc by Marc Jacobs.
Dick Page, Shiseido’s artistic director, chose to focus on the lips, keeping the rest of the face neutral. He began by applying a bit of Shiseido Benefiance Full Correction Lip Treatment on the eyelids for softness, then topped it with Shimmering Cream Eye Color in Sable from the lash line to the crease, as well as along the lower lash line. Next came eye shadow in Caviar on the outer third of the eyelid. Page then brushed eyebrows up and used Eyebrow Compact and Shimmering Cream Eye Color to add weight to the look. But the center of the drama was the lip, where Page mixed Lacquer Rouge in Sanguine and Drama, and applied the bright red result to the models’ lips with a brush.
Guido Palau, working with Redken at the show, was inspired by the Forties in the riotous mass of curls he created. After working Guts, a texturizing and thickening cream, thoroughly throughout the hair, he set it in pin curls. After the hair was dry, he took the pins out (using a small-barrel curling iron where necessary to fill in), made a side part and began teasing the hairs. He bobby-pinned several curls above the ears, leaving the rest to fly free.
