Collistar Set for Debut in China

The Italian cosmetics firm is entering the country for the first time in July, through an exclusive distribution deal with perfumery chain Sephora.

MILAN — Collistar, the Italian cosmetics firm, is entering China for the first time in July, through an exclusive distribution deal with perfumery chain Sephora.

In 2007, Collistar began distributing in Hong Kong, followed later by Taiwan and Malaysia, and today the company exports to 40 countries worldwide.

“Our company, which has today become a symbol of Made in Italy cosmetics, took the path of internationalization many years ago, beginning with Europe and continuing in the Middle East,” stated Daniela Sacerdote, Collistar’s chief executive officer since 1983. “We decided it was time to make our debut in China, a country in which the cosmetics sector is growing annually with double-figure percentages.”

“The marketing of Collistar products in China was preceded by a thorough market study in order to identify the ranges that would most interest the target,” added Paolo Bevegni, director of Collistar International. “We know, in fact, how attentive Chinese consumers are to skin care and how sensitive they are to the prestige and quality of Made in Italy products.”

The first round of Collistar products on Chinese shelves will include the Special Perfect Body and Collistar Men’s lines, as well as the Hypersensitive Skin range of the Special Perfect Sun line, formulated to protect skin against the sun’s UV rays.
