Erin Fetherston’s girls had a breezy beauty at the designer’s show Friday.
Bobbi Brown, working for her eponymous makeup brand, created a metallic shimmer eye using violet gel eyeliner and a sheer wash of shimmering taupe on eyelids, adding a pop of pale shimmering gold on the cheeks. But the real emphasis was on eyebrows, with a look intended to be “perfectly defined and precise.” Not a hair was out of place, thanks to tweezers and various brow gels, powders and pencils as necessary. Lots of black mascara and a nude lip gloss finished the face.
For hair, Lyndell Mansfield, working with Bumble and bumble, used plenty of the brand’s Grooming Cream to slick back hair, then used bungee-like grips to create precise ponytails. But this wasn’t your mother’s ponytail: after tying hair back, Mansfield attached long extensions keyed to the models’ hair color inside the ponytails with hair glue, then cut them at an angle for “graphically finished ends — it’s graphic, but it still moves.” A spritz of Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode at the ends and Styling Wax at the forehead hairline ensured no flyaways marred the finished look.
