“The butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker,” MAC’s Val Garland said, explaining the inspiration behind a Mary Katrantzou collection that juxtaposed different British trades and institutions.
“The Mary Katranztou woman is very pure, very statuesque and very proud so it’s all about a beautiful skin,” she continued.
This meant a matt rosebud lip, a soft blush of natural color drawn diagonally across the cheeks and a muddy silver wash over the eyes.
Hair by Anthony Turner for L’Oréal Professional took its cue from the model Maria Carla Boscono.
“She always looks really effortless and never over the top,” he said. Models’ tresses were prepped with Pli, parted in the center and then set to with one-inch curling tongs to achieve a neat “mermaid” wave which was brushed out before going back with the barrel of the iron to render the waves more defined. Curl separation was achieved with lashings of Mythic Oil.
