A Carolina Herrera girl reflects elegant beauty, an effect Orlando Pita made sure to show at the designer’s Monday morning show. Pita, working for T3, blew hair dry and straight, then took small pieces on either side of the head and pulled them back, finishing with an elastic, which he covered with the model’s hair. “I didn’t want hair to disappear, but by the same token I wanted to make Carolina’s clothes the focus,” he said.
Diane Kendal, working for MAC Cosmetics, made lips the focus of the makeup, using a burgundy lip color and softly smudging it for a stained effect. Kendal also created “linear cheeks, to look like a winter windburn” with a bit of burgundy lip color applied high on the cheekbone. Eyes were finished with a very thin line of black eyeliner and lots of black mascara.
