NEW YORK — Fashion Group International unveiled this year’s nominees for its Rising Star Awards, set for Jan. 24 at Cipriani 42nd Street with Ralph Rucci as the keynote speaker.
Finalists for women’s ready-to-wear are Nellie Partow, Giovanna Randall of Honor, Tia Cibani, Norisol Ferrari, Brandon Sun, Vengsarkar Budhu of Gavaskar, Loris Diran, Norman Ambrose and Rolando Santana. In men’s wear, they are Andy Hilfiger of Andrew Charles, Todd Snyder, Tim Coppens and Ariel and Shimon Ovadia of Ovadia & Sons. The accessories winner will be chosen from Cornelia Guest, Anndra Neen’s Phoebe and Annette Stephens, Adriana Castro, Dixie Dunbar Studio’s Soteria Kontis, Megan Papay and Cristina Palomo-Nelson of Freda Salvador, Manù’s Emanuela Frattini Magnusson, Max Kibardin and Swims’ Johan Ringdal. Fine jewelry’s finalists are Alexandra Mor, Jenny Klatt and Stephanie Wynne Lalin of Jemma Wynne and Torrubia & Torrubia’s Amaia and Yolanda Torrubia. Meanwhile, retail nominees are Fivestory’s Claire Distenfeld, Hayley Barna and Katie Beauchamp of Birchbox, Áslaug Magnúsdóttir and Lauren Santo Domingo of Moda Operandi and Shen Beauty’s Jessica Richards and Julie Stringer.
In beauty/fragrance, the corporate award will be decided between the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc.’s Alana Hawawini, Mane USA’s Yadira Perez, IFF’s Ruhi Patil and NARS Cosmetics’ Samantha Giordano. The entrepreneur nominees are Arquiste Parfumeur’s Carlos Huber, Vbeaute’s Julie Macklowe, Tony Perez and Meredith Waga of Belle Fleur New York, Kahina Giving Beauty’s Katharine L’Heureux, Lisa Hoffman of Lisa Hoffman Beauty and Joseph Quartana of Six Scents Parfums. For home-interior design, finalists are Materia Arquitectónica’s Gustavo Carmona Muñoz, Lindsey Adelman Studio’s Lindsey Adelman and Rachel Laxer Interiors’ Rachel Laxer.
Award presenters include Derek Lam, Chris Mitchell, Terron Schaefer, Laura Slatkin, Linda Wells, Marion Fasel, Mickey Boardman and Michael Boodro.
The event will also feature the first Karen Harvey Business Innovator Award, which, according to FGI president Margaret Hayes, “embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of Rising Star. Throughout her career, Karen Harvey has forged her own successful path through creativity and innovation and to have her recognize those same qualities in a Rising Star finalist with this award is very meaningful.” Karen Harvey Consulting Group is a sponsor of the awards, along with Saks Fifth Avenue and InStyle.
@kith is moving into children’s. The men’s and women’s streetwear brand has launched Kidset, a Kith kids line located in New York at 64 Bleecker Street. The line includes mini versions of staple Kith pieces like the Astor bomber jacket and the Kith box logo sweatshirts, along with a wall that can display up to 120 pairs of shoes from @adidas, @newbalance, @timberland and more. #wwdfashion
“I just wanted to create this fully rounded character, but I do think what excited me most was just the opportunity to give a group of people representation that I feel needs it.
