PARIS — The makeup look for Akris’ fall 2012 fashion show took a cue from Franz Kline, the American abstract artist.
“In the collection, Albert [Kriemler, the house’s designer] has used blocks of color reflecting that inspiration, so we decided to go with one color on the eyelid, and turquoise-green was picked out,” explained makeup artist Diane Kendal backstage. “Then, the rest of the face we’ve kept very fresh and healthy.”
Models’ eyebrows were filled in and a black cream liner was applied close to their lashes, which got a coat of mascara.
Hairstylist Guido Palau took a no-frills approach. Models’ clean tresses were left to dry naturally (save for their hair line, which was blown dry a little) and parted in the center. He put Redken Powder Grip 03 on ends “just to create a little bit more texture,” explained Palau.
He called the look a “new, modern way of wearing hair with rich clothing.”
