“We’re at Vivienne Westwood so ‘natural’ is a nasty word,” said makeup artist Gordon Espinet, who was working backstage with MAC Cosmetics. His vision: “They’re high school girl gangs – girls that belong to a clique.”
Espinet created four looks for the show, including one reminiscent of rock chicks. “It’s very Chrissie Hynde with too much eyeliner,” said Espinet, adding he used Eye Kohl in Feline on peepers. Another look took a Fifties spin thanks to a streak of Fluidline liquid eyeliner in Blacktrack on lids. Espinet created what he dubbed a “chav,” or trashy, lip inspired by Paris Hilton wannabes by blending lipstick in Girl About Town and Cremesheen Glass in Ever So Rich for another look, while he channeled Goth-loving teens with a matte brown lip using lipstick in Full Chocolate.
Hairstylist Angelo Seminara, who was working with L’Oréal Professionnel at the show, concocted a plethora of looks based on each model’s individual style. “We’re accentuating what they already have and making it more interesting,” he said, adding he used products from Texture Expert line.
