LONDON — L’Oreal Paris has signed Natalie Imbruglia as its new international spokesmodel.
The 27-year-old Australian singer and actress signed her $150,000 contract two days before the start of the Cannes film festival earlier this month. She will represent skin care and cosmetic products on television and in magazine advertising starting this summer.
“Natalie is felt to be a perfect ambassador for our cosmetics,” a L’Oreal spokesman told WWD. “She is known for her genuine charm and personal strength of character, as well as her physical beauty.”
Imbruglia follows in the footsteps of Catherine Deneuve, Claudia Schiffer, Andie MacDowell, Milla Jovovich and Virginie Ledoyen. Imbruglia started her career as an actress in the Australian soap opera “Neighbours” — where, incidentally, Kylie Minogue and Russell Crowe both got their start. In 1994, her first album, “Left of the Middle,” went double platinum.
This summer is set to be her busiest yet — she is shooting her first film, “Johnny English,” which also stars John Malkovich, while her third single from her second album, “Beauty on the Fire,” will be released alongside the L’Oreal skin care campaign in July.”
