LARGER CASA: Giorgio Armani SpA said Monday it plans to invest in the opening of 10 Armani Casa stores in China over the next four years. The stores will open in Shanghai in October 2007, and in Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shenyang and Chengdu by the end of 2009, among other locations. Other developments are planned throughout the Far East, with freestanding store openings scheduled this summer in Singapore, Bangkok and Taipei, followed by an Armani/Casa floor within the new Armani/Ginza Tower in Tokyo in November. The Armani Casa collection was launched in October 2000 and today includes 33 freestanding stores and over 60 shops within shops in 30 countries.

PACSUN CHANGES: Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. on Monday announced a reorganization that includes the elimination of the chief operating officer post. The company said the changes were intended to streamline operations. Former chief operating officer Wendy Burden has departed. Chief executive officer Sally Frame Kasaks will have the information services, real estate and construction departments reporting to her. The responsibilities of Tom Kennedy, division president of PacSun, will now include oversight for PacSun store operations. The distribution center, global logistics and trade compliance departments report to Gerald Chaney, senior vice president and chief financial officer. "These changes will result in improved alignment of the company's operations by flattening the structure and creating greater accountability at the senior management level," Kasaks said in a statement.
