PARIS — India served to inspire the beauty look at Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture show here on Wednesday.
Hairstylist Odile Gilbert pumped up the volume, constructing beehives with a long braid hanging down the back.
“Jean Paul was talking about… Indian goddesses, Indian gypsies,” said makeup artist Lloyd Simmonds. “It’s all very dramatic — and winged out and winged up, but a sort of elaborate, couture version of that.”
Simmonds added rhinestones on the inner corner of models’ eyes and elsewhere on their faces. Skin was matte and eyebrow hairs drawn in individually.
