NEW YORK — Donna Karan hosted a few hundred revelers at her late husband Stephan Weiss' West Village sculpture studio Wednesday night to fete the launch of her newest women's fragrance, Delicious Night.

"We're out at night, being naughty, having fun, enjoying the city tonight," Karan said of the evening's festivities. "This is a fragrance that can carry you from the day into the evening," Karan said of the scent, "like someone you want to cuddle up to."

She said the apple shape of the scent's bottle is important because the "apple is significant" to her business. Considering Weiss' bronze apple sculpture in Hudson River Park, the fact that he started Karan's beauty business and that the party was at the studio, "there's a lot of interconnection for him and me," the designer said.

The soiree, which featured a live performance by hip-hop artist Common, saw a host of celebrities and VIPs, including Marisa Tomei, Christina Ricci, Zoe Kravitz, Rumer Willis and Rashida Jones. Margherita Missoni was in attendance, as were Olivia Palermo, Ali Larter, Dabney Mercer and Arden Wohl.

Ricci said her favorite men's fragrance is Unleaded, a scent Karan launched in 1995. "It's discontinued, so I have to find it online. I have to stash it for my future husband," said Ricci, who added no one in her life currently fits that description. "I wasted it once on the wrong guy."

Ricci, who is in the film "Penelope" due out in January and just finished shooting "Speed Racer" in September, says she's not working on anything but her "tan" — in her Los Angeles backyard — at the moment.

Kravitz said she was there to support Karan and take in the Common performance. The 18-year-old actress and daughter of rocker Lenny Kravitz appeared in this summer's "No Reservations" and will appear in "The Laws of Motion," which is in post-production. For now, however, she's "just practicing" acting — at SUNY Purchase, where she studies the discipline.

Missoni, who just got back from Spain, where her mother, designer Angela Missoni, won Spanish Glamour's designer of the year award, said she's working on designing her own jewelry line, a small assortment consisting of gold bracelets, necklaces and pendants.Also at the event was a bevy of top executives from the Estée Lauder Cos., which holds the license for Donna Karan's beauty business. Lauder's chief executive William Lauder was there, as was the firm's chief operating officer, Dan Brestle. Lauder group president Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne was in attendance, as was Veronique Gabai-Pinsky, president of Lauder's Aramis and Designer Fragrances division; Carol Russo, the division's senior vice president and general manager of sales and marketing in North America, and Matthew Teri, vice president of corporate product development.

"It's trending on the same volume of the initial launch," Bousquet-Chavanne said, comparing early results of Delicious Night to Karan's Be Delicious scent launch three years ago. "This will enhance the status of the brand."

He added the scent is "overachieving," given its business plan. Industry sources estimate the scent, which was launched at Bloomingdale's last month and will be carried there exclusively until Jan. 1, could generate first-year retail sales of $20 million.
