NEW YORK — Monday proved to be a beautiful night for Susan Kropf, president and chief operating officer of Avon Products Inc.
About 600 people — around the same as last year’s tally of 575 — turned out at the Waldorf-Astoria here for the 30th annual Beauty Ball, honoring Kropf, this year’s recipient of the organization’s Beautiful Apple Award.
“Susan is the ultimate inspiration,” said Andrea Jung, chairman and chief executive officer of Avon, Kropf’s boss and self-proclaimed shopping buddy, who presented Kropf with the honor.
The evening at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel raised more than $1.16 million for the March of Dimes, comparable to last year’s $1 million tally. Over the years, the event has raised more than $20 million for the March of Dimes, and has become the organization’s single largest fund-raising event nationwide.
