NEW YORK -- In the latest reshuffling at Alfin Inc., Lawrence Pesin has resigned as president and chief executive officer.
He left the company, a fragrance and cosmetics distributor based in Norwood, N.J., for "personal reasons," according to Mayer D. Moyal, chairman. Moyal has assumed the chief executive officer post until Pesin's successor is named.
Pesin couldn't be reached for comment. He joined Alfin in May, following the resignation in April of chairman and ceo Stanley Kohlenberg, who had joined the company in January.
When Pesin was named ceo, Saul Resnick was named chairman.
Moyal joined the firm in September as the successor to Resnick, who then returned to his post at Pierre Balmain International, which is owned by Erich Fayer, the majority owner of Alfin.
Despite the executive shuffle, Alfin reported a profit of $11,133 in the first quarter of fiscal 1994 ended Oct. 31, boosted by a decrease in overhead, the company said. Alfin had a loss of $540,611 a year earlier.
"We have had some good news lately," said Moyal. "We are launching the Burberrys fragrances next month, so we hope we can have a good second quarter as well."
