Beauty was minimalist at Givenchy’s fall-winter 2008-2009 haute couture show.
There, makeup artist Tom Pecheux drew inspiration from the house’s Peruvian-themed fashion collection. He called the makeup “minimal,” “matte” and “earth-colored.”
Hairstylist Luigi Mureno explained he wanted to create something “against couture values. We decided to do something a little bit simpler.” So he made a “ponytail de luxe. It’s like a couture ponytail rather than a prêt-a-porter ponytail,” he said, pointing to the fine texture created around heads before hair was gathered with an elastic and smoothed to hang straight down. “There is something equestrian about it.”
