So in honor of Women’s Equality Day on Tuesday, L’Oréal USA is the first company in the U.S. to be certified with the Economic Dividends for Gender Equality global standard for the workplace, according to the company.
“To us, gender equality is not just about advancing women, it’s about creating a company culture where both men and women can thrive,” said Angela Guy, senior vice president of diversity and inclusion at L’Oréal USA. “The Edge certification creates a system of checks and balances to ensure we’re constantly identifying new ways to foster equality in the workplace, and gives us a major competitive edge in recruitment, development and retention of talent.”
L’Oréal USA has been partaking in Edge’s certification process, which examines extensive worker data, company policies and employee feedback through an online assessment tool, for the last six months.
Aniela Unguresan, cofounder of Edge Certified Foundation, noted, “The certification process looks at both quantitative and qualitative indicators, including equal pay, hiring and promotion patterns, leadership development as it applies to both genders and company culture.”
Edge launched in 2011 at the World Economic Forum. Since its unveiling, more than 60 companies in 29 countries use the Edge assessment methodology and certification process to create an ideal workplace for men and women.
