Less than a year since making its retail debut, Mode is moving beyond color cosmetics and branching out into skin care early next year.

Mode co-creators and sisters, Cristina Samuels and Jennifer Isaac, decided to create their own product line fusing fashion, nature and health together after being immersed into their family's Albany, N.Y., cosmetics manufacturing company, Zela International Co. Made from natural, organic and kosher ingredients, Mode Cosmetics is an eco-friendly line whose mission is to "put the glamour in green." Along with certified organic and biodegradable ingredients, items in the line feature certified kosher ingredients including sweet almond oil, coconut oil and other natural flavors.

"Most natural products that are green have a crunchy and granola feel to them, so we wanted to create something that was more luxurious and had a fashion-forward focus, but that was still sold at a very reasonable price point," said Samuels.

With all products retailing under $10, the new skin care assortment will include a body cream, skin moisturizer, eye cream, face serum, foot cream and a product for spot treatments. According to Samuels, the company also has plans to launch a fragrance collection and men's grooming products.

With more than 260 stockkeeping units retailing from $3 to $4.50, the products are sold in about 1,000 doors including Price Chopper supermarkets, independent pharmacies, health food stores and boutiques. The company also hopes to expand into food, drug and mass channels.
