PARIS — “The look is very young, it’s very clean. It’s very Giambattista,” said makeup artist Val Garland before his show Monday. “He likes the idea of a young, beautiful woman just getting up out of bed, throwing her hair up and just leaving the house in her couture. But she’s very fresh-faced and natural. So the makeup is all about the skin.”
Working with MAC Cosmetics, Garland used six products — including Care Blends Essential Oils, Marine Bright Formula Essence/Sérum and Mineralize Foundation.
Models’ brows were brushed up for a slightly boyish feel, and their lips were matted down. Each wore sunglasses
“It’s like gorgeous, highlighted skin with a matt lip,” said Garland.
For coifs, Orlando Pita also created an on-the-go vibe, crafting low-lying buns and wrapping scarves around models’ heads.
“It’s a bow that gets just one loop, and then it just has two pieces hanging. Otherwise, it just gets tied in two little knots in the front,” he said.
