James Kaliardos, lead makeup artist for MAC, was inspired by Linda Evangelista for a dramatic smoky eye backstage at Nicole Miller.
To keep the eyes balanced, brows were squared off and shaded through to appear thicker. Eyelids featured Eye Kohl in Blooz, which was blended over the eyelids and through the lower lash line in a “smoky” shape that was diffused up to the brow bone. A new product, Black Ivy Fluidline, which launches in fall 2014, was used to create an “inky veneer over the lids,” while Eye Shadow in Stars N’ Rockets created a “reflective wash of plum.”
To perfect the face. Kaliardos applied a blend of MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation, Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder and MAC Pro Powder Blush Pro Palette in Taupe. Lips were given a coat of Lipstick in Mocha Latte.
Kevin Ryan, for R Session Tools, created a knotty updo to complement the beauty look. Black leathery material was woven through the hair as he pinned it into place.
Nails, done by Katie Jane Hughes for Butter London, featured a “feather flame-y” manicure, created with Union Jack Black, Matte Finish Top Coat and Knees Up, a crimson shade.
