NEW YORK -- Tom Pecheux, color creator for Shiseido The Makeup, went straight from the fashion runway to the cosmetics aisle at the conclusion of the New York collections last week.

Fresh from creating makeup looks for the Bruce, DKNY and Ralph Lauren ready-to-wear presentations, Pecheux and the same team of makeup artists that worked the shows turned their efforts to Saks Fifth Avenue customers last Friday.

It was Pecheux's debut on the public appearance circuit and the eight-hour event reportedly outstripped sales expectations. While Shiseido would not release figures, sources indicated that Pecheux made cash registers ring to the tune of $14,100 -- easily eclipsing what was expected to be a $10,000 day. Best-selling products were those from Shiseido The Makeup's current spring collection, including Silky Eyeshadow Duos, Lip Gloss and Creamy Blush.

A total of 130 free makeovers were given and customers received consultations on how to achieve the runway looks, a mix of smoky eyes, peach cheeks and sheer lips.
