PARIS — Rachel Weisz has been tapped by L’Oréal Paris to be its new face for all markets worldwide, except the U.S.
“Rachel Weisz is a determined and a forward-thinking woman, a brilliant and an engaged actress,” said Cyril Chapuy, global brand president of L’Oréal Paris. The L’Oréal executive noted that Weisz adroitly balances her roles of woman, actress and mother. “Women can identify with her,” he said.
“I am honored to be the new ambassador of L’Oréal Paris, which values both beauty and diversity,” stated Weisz.
Weisz is to appear in the brand’s TV and print advertisements, starting in November. She’ll appear in skin care advertising and then be in makeup campaigns starting in the spring.
When it comes to the silver screen, Weisz recently finished filming Jim Sheridan’s “Dream House,” which also stars Daniel Craig and Naomi Watts and is due for a February release. The award-winning actress also appears in the Larysa Kondracki-directed film “The Whistleblower,” which premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.
This year, Weisz won the Laurence Olivier Award in the category of best actress for her portrayal of Blanche DuBois in the revival of “A Streetcar Named Desire” in London.
Weisz joins the cast of other L’Oréal Paris spokespeople that includes Diane Kruger, Aishwarya Rai, Patrick Dempsey, Gong Li, Andie MacDowell and Beyoncé.
