LONDON — A seventies vibe dominated backstage at Unique, Topshop’s premium line. Hairstylist Paul Hanlon, who was working with Bumble and bumble, created colorful and voluminous coifs inspired by Guy Bourdin images and reminiscent of Grace Coddington and Sonia Rykiel’s ‘dos.
“It’s Saturday night hair, it’s a bit disco,” he said.
Hanlon used L’Oreal Professionnel Majirel to dye strands of hair in washed-out shades of lavender and peach before working it into tiny twists, which were sprayed with Bumble and bumble Does It All hairspray and pressed with straighteners. Hair was then unpinned and brushed through with Bumble and bumble Bb.Shine spray.
Working with Topshop’s makeup line, Hannah Murray honed in a statement lip. “The inspiration is Roxy Music, Jerry Hall and the Seventies,” said Murray. “But she’s still a cool London girl.”
Skin was prepped with Topshop Skin Tint in Dark to even out skin tone and Skin Glow in Dark was used to highlight facial features, as well as the collarbone and shoulders. Eyebrows were defined slightly with a brown eyeshadow, while lips were coated with Dare Devil lipstick followed by three layers of lip gloss in Cardinal Sin.
Models sported full-body St. Tropez wash-off tans.
