Louise McDonnell, 29, works in banking and said she prefers body lotions to perfumes. "They're great for pampering yourself," said McDonnell, who wears Chanel No. 5, Calvin Klein's Eternity and Jean Paul Gaultier. "Perfumes make you feel special, like you're really treating yourself. The prices are fine. If perfumes were cheaper, it wouldn't feel the same."

Noryne Hiromoto, a 26-year-old student, agreed. "I'm prejudiced against cheaper perfumes." She wears Givenchy's Amarige, Salvador Dali and Gaultier, which she admitted she finds "overpriced," but said "they're worth saving up for."

"I wouldn't even buy the lotions; I would just save for the perfumes themselves," she said.

Student Charlotta Firini, 34, had the same opinion: "I just wear the perfume," she said. "I prefer it over the lotions." She finds her favorite fragrance, Kenzo's Parfum d'Ete, a little expensive, so she tries to buy it duty free. "I have tried [Elizabeth Arden's] Sunflowers and I might buy it," she said.

Jackie Davies, a 29-year-old art director, definitely won't be buying Sunflowers. "I hate flowery perfumes like Sunflowers. I prefer fresher scents." She wears Chanel No. 5 and never really considers the prices.

Production assistant Jennie Braid, 30, wears L'Eau d'Issey, which she considers expensive, but doesn't seem to mind. "Perfumes are a luxury," she explained. "You expect to pay that much for them."

Nadia Jones, 19, a hair assistant, wears Paris by Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior's Dune and said prices are "reasonable. It's a designer name, so you expect to pay for it." She doesn't mind the less-expensive scents available at The Body Shop, such as White Musk. "I also buy the body lotions at The Body Shop because they're much cheaper,"she said.

Rosalia Napolitano, a 24-year-old shop assistant, wears Klein's Obsession, Giorgio Beverly Hills and New West from Aramis. "New West is very cheap. But I'm happy to pay the prices of the more expensive perfumes too." She said she wouldn't buy the bath and body lotions because she prefers to wear just the fragrance.
