PARIS — For Valentino’s fall 2012 show, makeup artist Pat McGrath used lots of grays and a smidgen of browns and purples on models’ eyelids, plus “tons” of mascara on the top and bottom of their lashes.

“It’s a nod to a modern version of Penelope Tree,” she said.

Hairstylist Guido Palau said he did “a little Seventies kind of twist roll.”

One ran around either side of models’ heads, then they merged together in the back. To help achieve the coif, he employed Redken Outshine 01 Anti-Frizz Polishing Milk and Full Frame 07 Protective Volumizing Mousse.
