Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury and hairstylist Paul Hanlon weren’t pretending when they said Chrissie Hynde inspired the looks at Matthew Williamson’s show Tuesday morning.

Tilbury, working for MAC Cosmetics at the show, translated rock ’n’ roll into makeup using a black MAC eye pencil and chocolate and black eye shadows, used liberally on eyelids and under the eye to create a seriously smoky eye. Eyes were rimmed all the way around with the pencil, then smudged with the shadows. Lots of black mascara and brow gel made models “effortlessly cool and raw, with a Chrissie Hynde and Kate Moss edge” said Tilbury, who eschewed foundation in favor of moisturizer, concealer and MAC’s Cherche cream blush.

Hanlon created a “supersimple rock ’n’ roll” look using a flat iron and oil spray — “I wanted it to look like they went out last night and didn’t fuss with their hair this morning,” he said. To finish, Hanlon smoothed shine serum and separated the hair for a slightly jagged finish. “Very modern and very easy,” he said.

Amanda Fontanarossa kept nails clean and bare, simply spraying CND’s Solar Oil below the knee and on arms to catch the light.
