BEAUTY BAG: Accessories firm Kipling North America, a division of VF Sportswear Inc., has teamed up with cosmetics brand Too Faced on a collection of holiday cases called Kipling Loves Too Faced. The collection is made up of five cases containing best-selling Too Faced items, sometimes in mini sizes, such as the Beauty Balm Lip Gloss, Duo Shadow and Foiled Liner Eyeliner. Retail prices for the cases range from $29.50 to $79. Design elements include Kipling’s signature monkey charm stylized by Too Faced co-founder Jerrod Blandino, and a pink striped interior. Beginning in October, items from the collection will be available at various retailers, including kipling-usa.com, select Kipling, Macy’s and Dillard’s doors and toofaced.com. TAKING ON HAIR: Daisy Fuentes, who has gone from MTV personality to clothing designer, is now branching into hair care. Daisy Fuentes Pro Style will be launched with 10 stockkeeping units of shampoos, conditioners and styling products. Products will be differentiated for curly and straight hair types. Fuentes developed the line with Oak Brook, Ill.-based Beautology Brands Co., which markets the Charles Worthington London and Chemistry Salon Labs hair care brands. Hair care is not Daisy Fuentes’ first foray into beauty. Her name graces Daisy Fuentes Beauty, a brand among the Estée Lauder Cos.-owned BeautyBank’s flotilla that also includes Flirt, Good Skin, American Beauty and Grassroots.
BLACK’UP MOVE: Lionel Durand is the new managing director of Black’Up, the ethnic beauty brand. Durand fills the position that was held by Sigolène Morichau Beauchant until about one year ago. Durand was previously director of travel retail for the Middle East, Africa and Europe for the Estée Lauder Cos., where he worked for 16 years. FIRST LOOK: The spa at the Peninsula New York hotel is readying for its December opening, which will unveil its upgraded look and skin care partner, ESPA. But on Monday the first phase of renovation will open to hotel guests, featuring a new fitness center and pool. Located on the 22nd floor, the space boasts a bright and airy new fitness facility, a sunlit studio and a glass-enclosed pool area. In December, the Peninsula spa by ESPA will make its debut, featuring 12 treatment rooms and men’s and women’s private relaxation lounges. The overall space, which measures 35,000 square feet and follows a East-meets-West theme inspired by nature, was designed by Alexandra Champalimaud. The spa closed in January for the extensive renovation.
