LOVIN’ LAVAR: Ellin LaVar, a 30-year hair care expert, is launching her own line of products this May specifically for thick, coarse, brittle hair. LaVar, who specializes in extensions and calls Naomi Campbell and Iman her regular clients, teamed up with former Matrix alum Tony Beckman to create the 11-item line. Consisting of nine treatment and styling products as well as a shampoo and conditioner, many items in the Ellin Lavar Textures line contain LV-5 Complex — a blend of indigenous herbs from the Brazilian rainforest. Some star products include LiquidMotion, a lotion formulated with Brazil nut oil, pequi oil and Maracuja passion fruit emollient to help hair hold its style. There’s also a NourishOil, a treatment to condition the hair and scalp that’s made with vitamins A, B-complex and C to keep hair conditioned. Prices range from $10 for the OptiMoist Shampoo to $25 for the PenetratingBalm, which is made to help style and hydrate very coarse hair. Products will be sold exclusively in Ulta stores.

The line, which was launched in 2001, is owned by Irvine, Calif.-based R&S Trading Co.
