PBA AND NCA MERGE: The Professional Beauty Association and the National Cosmetology Association have merged to best represent the professional beauty industry. The merger will have NCA join the PBA’s three existing company-based membership sections as a fourth section in its headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz. The two will combine government relations and lobbying efforts for the benefit of the entire industry. Steve Sleeper, executive director of the PBA, and Gordon Miller, executive director of the NCA, worked together on the merger.
A NEW FACE FOR COVER GIRL: Dominican actress Dania Ramirez has been named as the newest spokeswoman for Cover Girl. Ramirez will begin appearing in print and TV ads in January for a new makeup line launching this winter. “Beauty should start with feeling beautiful inside and Dania’s inner beauty and passion for her family, community and work make her an inspirational Cover Girl,” said Esi Eggleston Bracey, global vice president of Cover Girl Cosmetics. As an actress, Ramirez has appeared in “X-Men 3: The Last Stand,” the HBO series “The Sopranos” and more recently on the NBC series “Heroes” as Maya Herrera.
HOLIDAY PIXI: Pixi, the British cosmetics line, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Created by Swedish makeup artist Petra Strand, Pixi is commemorating this achievement with the Limited Edition Wake Up Kit, an all-in-one palette with the brand’s best-selling lip, eye and cheek products from the past 10 years. The palette will contain colors for both intense and subtle looks. Hitting shelves later this month, the Wake Up Kit will sell for $34. Pixi is sold in Target and on target.com and pixibeauty.com.
PROJECT RUNWAY: Lifetime Network’s “Project Runway” has added Maybelline New York Garnier hair color brand to its list of sponsors. Garnier will be featured in both “Project Runway” and it’s newest counterpart, “Models on the Runway,” an unscripted show following the lives of the models appearing on Project Runway. It will document how they live together as they work and compete toward a $25,000 cash prize and a photo spread in Marie Claire magazine. The “Project Runway” season premier is scheduled for Aug. 20 at 10 p.m. Models on the Runway will premiere at 11 p.m.
LASH LAUNCH: Lash conditioner neuLash is entering 11 Neiman Marcus stores nationwide starting this week. The product, which was developed by Skin Research Laboratories and is distributed in the U.S. by Mosaic Marketing Partners, launched at Saks Fifth Avenue last year. NeuLash is priced at $150 for 6 ml.

For the holidays, @Burberry partnered with 20-year-old artist @blondeymccoy on a series of three outdoor murals in downtown Manhattan. The murals are McCoy’s interpretation of a Christmas eve party, the idea of charity and the spirit of family. His third mural, pictured here, is the most personal.
