The focus was on peepers at Valentino’s show. Makeup artist Pat McGrath created a “dark eye, but nothing too heavy” based around big lashes. To get the look, she used Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper Mascara over short strips of false lashes. Black kohl, smudged to a smoky smoulder and extended from the outer edges, was softened by taupe eye shadow on the lids with a covering of gray-beige shimmer.

McGrath gave cheeks a touch of highlighter, while lips made do with a slick of nude lip balm. The only hint of Valentino red came from nail varnish, applied to fingers and toes in Revlon Red. “Overall, the look today is polished, but not overdone,” McGrath said backstage.

Hair was kept easy-breezy. Stylist Orlando Pita blow-dried tresses with a thick round brush and a generous spritz of Plump from his own range. “We’re keeping it young and fresh with a lot of volume and a little flick at the ends,” he said. A cloud of his Control hair spray completed the style.
