BERLIN — The German Fragrance Foundation has booked Grammy winner Toni Braxton to perform at its Duftstars awards ceremony in Berlin on May 7.

The chosen date is perhaps not coincidentally the same day Braxton’s upcoming album “Pulse” will be released in Germany (it makes its debut in the U.S. and online May 4, her first album in five years).

“We’re delighted to be able to welcome the wonderful Toni Braxton to Duftstars 2010. She’s one of the greatest pop stars of all time, and it is a great honor that she will celebrate the German Premier of her new album exclusively with us,” stated German Fragrance Foundation president Klaus Sørensen.

Jury prizes will be given to men’s and women’s scents in the Prestige, Exclusive, and Lifestyle categories; nominees have been drawn from selective, niche and mass perfumes launched in Germany in the last year. In addition, a Classics award will be given. The public also gets the chance to have its say about its scents — a People’s Prize will be awarded in the Prestige and Lifestyle categories.
