AVON LAYOFFS RUMORED: Avon took a fourth-quarter charge of $80 million to $90 million to help cover costs associated with a business streamlining effort. Part of that charge includes severance pay for positions around the world that will be eliminated, confirmed an Avon spokesman. Some employees at the New York headquarters have already been offered buyout plans. But according to sources, layoffs are also expected. The spokesman declined to say how many positions could be affected. "We are not getting into specifics at this time."

ORIGINS REDUX: This spring, Origins will build upon the success of two existing franchises with the introduction of three new products: Underwear for Lids, a lid primer; Underwear for Lips, a lip primer, and Pomegranate Polish, a body buffer. The new products join Underwear for Lashes, a lash builder, while Pomegranate Polish is a sister to the brand's popular Salt Scrub.
VICTORIA'S SECRET MOVES: Kimberly Draper has been appointed senior vice president, chief store officer for Victoria's Secret Beauty, effective Jan. 21. Draper will lead the store operations, visual merchandising, store communications and education functions. She is currently the zone vice president for the West Coast stores of Bath & Body Works. Kevin Mead has been promoted to vice president, chief store officer for the joint venture between Intimate Beauty Corp. and Shiseido Co., Ltd. Mead is currently vice president, store operations, store communications and visual merchandising.
ESTEE LAUDER APPOINTMENT: Carol Russo has been appointed to the position of vice president, sales and marketing at the Aramis and Designer Fragrances division of The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. She was previously vice president, sales development at the The Estee Lauder Companies.
JOB SHARING: Herve Lesieur has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Carita International. Lesieur, who took up the post Jan. 2, will also continue to hold his existing title of president and ceo of Decleor. Both groups are divisions of the Japanese beauty giant Shiseido.Lesieur, 48, replaces outgoing president and ceo Masahiro Takahashi, who will continue to work within the Shiseido group in Japan.
BIGELOW ONLINE: Bigelow Apothecaries, which currently sells items via its New York store, an outpost in hip fashion retailer Jeffrey New York and through its own catalog, has added a Web site to its retail options. The site, bigelowchemists.com, went live last week and uses pop-up video-style technology.
EYE FLASH: The newest introduction from Sothys Paris is a real eye-opener. The collection, called Active-Contour Eye Care System, launches this month and was designed specifically for eye area problems such as dark circles, puffiness and irritation. The Active-Contour Tensor Gel retails for $32, the Active-Contour Age-Defying Cream is $41 and the Active-Contour Destressing Mask is $28. A new sun care line, Contrat Soleil, will be available this spring. Sothys products can be found at Jacobsons' locations in Florida and the Midwest as well as in select spas and salons nationwide.
IFF APPOINTMENT: International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. announced the appointment of James R. Cantalupo, vice chairman and president of McDonald's Corporation, to its Board of Directors.
MARBERT MOVES: Marbert AG of Dusseldorf, Germany, has named Hen Allewelt and Laura Caravante-Beucke to its Board of Directors.
Allewelt, who has been active with Marbert in Holland for the last seven years, has taken over distribution and marketing for the beauty brand in Germany and Holland. Caravante-Beucke, former director for planning, controlling and organization at Profumerie Douglas SpA in Verona, Italy, is now responsible for administration and finance.

24-year-old Jean Prounis is redefining the rules of jewelry. Formerly a studio assistant to Jemima Kirke and a design apprentice at Ghuran, she focuses on handcrafted subtleties and ancient goldsmithing techniques. “There was a really sterile feel in the environment and I wanted to have jewelry with character that shapes how you wear it everyday,” Prounis said. Each piece is hand made in New York, either by Prounis or three other jewelers in the district. #wwdfashion

Amid the Harvey Weinstein controversy, there’s another sector that’s being put under the spotlight for sexual abuse: the modeling industry.
