A blustery catwalk directly inspired the beauty look at Issey Miyake. The fashion house’s artistic director, Dai Fujiwara, was so taken with the vacuum cleaner that he developed a windy stage set by vacuum pros at Dyson.
“There is a typhoon in this show,” said hairstylist Eugene Souleiman, who created a style he called “a bit schizophrenic.” On any one model’s head were curls, waves and straight bits. “They’re all fighting one another, not blending,” added Souleiman, explaining he used salt water to help get the effect. “It is multitextured and very, very graphic.”
“I thought, what is the most natural reaction to wind?” continued makeup artist Dick Page (for Shiseido). In response, he came up with a rather natural, pink-tinged look for models’ faces. Page made their skin fairly transparent and added pinky, golden highlights for an appearance he called “a bit savage and raw.”
“I see things on the hanger and I’m, like, ‘I never knew that color worked on me.’ It’s things you necessarily wouldn’t choose to wear, but once you put them on, you see why Janie is who Janie is." — Lily Collins on working with former "Mad Men" costume designer, Janie Bryant on creating looks for her role as Celia Brady's in Amazon series, "The Last Tycoon." 📸@jilliansollazzo #wwdeye
