PARIS — Models’ hair was swept into a topknot for Versace’s couture show here Sunday.
It’s “not up and old, [but] up and young,” said hairstylist Guido Palau, who crafted high buns to elongate necks. He used Redken Thickening Lotion 06 on rough-dried tresses, then tied them with elastic and twisted hair around with strands sticking out.
“So it has a little punky, rock ‘n’ roll feeling,” said Palau. At the end he spritzed on Redken Forceful 23.
Donatella Versace showed makeup artist Pat McGrath Man Ray’s photo “Tears” from the Thirties, in which a model’s blackened eyelashes were well-defined with mascara.
“She was saying it’s all about a fresh version of that,” said McGrath. “Donatella was obsessed with top and bottom lashes.”
So they were emphasized on models’ peepers. Otherwise, McGrath left their skin natural, dabbed balm on lips and groomed eyebrows.
