PARIS  “Think urban warriors, Wong Kar-wei, a little bit Helmut Newton; it’s all about these kind of strong, hip-hop girls,” said makeup artist Val Garland about the beauty look at Mugler’s show.

Using MAC Cosmetics, Garland crafted a bold, linear eye, which she called “aerodynamic” and “a bit urban,” and an apricot-colored lip.

“The skin will just be beautifully alabaster, porcelain,” Garland added.

“The hair is a natural texture with no product in it apart from a very secret, special mix of different spray gels we had to concoct,” continued hairstylist Sam McKnight.

That mixture and water were spritzed part way down models’ hair, since he wanted them to look like they were a bit sweaty or caught in the rain after leaving a nightclub.

“There’s a real girl in there somewhere, but she’s tough,” said McKnight. “She’s got hair in her face and doesn’t care. She’s powerful and sexy at the same time.”
