NEW YORK -- It appears that consumers are saying "I do" to Vera Wang's eponymous new fragrance from Unilever Prestige.

Saks Fifth Avenue said Thursday that Wang's scent, launched last week, racked up the most successful launch week in the retailer's history. Reportedly, the scent did $325,000 in the chain's 62 doors, with the retailer's Manhattan flagship accounting for $100,000 of that figure. The previous chain-wide record was said to be $200,000 for first-week sales. "We had high expectations for the fragrance, but so far, this scent has exceeded all of them," said Deborah Walters, senior vice president and general merchandise manager of Saks Fifth Avenue. "It is a unique and beautiful product, and when you combine that with Vera's engaging manner with our sales associates and customers, plus a great juice, great packaging, great support -- this is magic for us."
