BERLIN — Things are getting steamy between Finnish design brand Marimekko and Australian natural cosmetics company Aesop.
The two firms have teamed up to release a bag and body care set inspired by Finnish sauna culture.
The set consists of a botanical scrub and a vitamin-enriched body balm scented with essential oils from fir, sage and pine. Both products come in recyclable plastic jars printed with Marimekko’s looping black-and-white Vellamo print, and are housed in a cotton bag with the same print, which is an interpretation of moving water designed for the design company by Maija Louekari.
This is the second cosmetics project for Marimekko; the company first dipped its toes into beauty waters in 2008 when it collaborated with Avon Products Inc. on a limited-edition makeup line.
The Sauna Duet set will be priced at 60 euros, or $79.40 at current exchange, and will be available starting in April at Marimekko and Aesop global stores, and online.
