Micys Turnover Up

The company expects to surpass 100 million euros in turnover this year, or about $129 million at current exchange.

MILAN — Micys Company SpA, the Casatenovo-based Italian cosmetics company that runs the Pupa, Borsari Parma and Be Chic brands, said today that it expects to surpass 100 million euros in turnover this year, or about $129 million at current exchange, up from the 96.5 million euros, or $124 million, on the books at the end of 2012.

The company attributed its growth to an increase in exports, with strong performances in Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Poland, the Netherlands, Israel and France. This year, Micys entered Turkey and it is planning to expand in China and Brazil. At present, Micys exports to 70 countries worldwide.

Referring to the drop in sales sustained by many Italian companies, Micys chief executive officer Valerio Gatti, said, “2012 was certainly a difficult year for the cosmetics industry. So we’re satisfied that we maintained the performance of the previous year and even registered slight growth, and we trust that our development strategy for the Pupa brand will bring us positive results this year.”
