LONDON – Alliance Boots, owner of the Boots pharmacy chain, said net profits more than doubled to 602 million pounds, or $961 million, in the year ended March 31.
Company revenues gained 9.6 percent to 22.5 billion pounds, or $35.92 billion. Dollar figures were converted from the pound at average exchange for the 12-month period.
Alliance Boots said its health and beauty division’s revenues increased 5.2 percent to 7.52 billion pounds, or $12 billion.
“Our strong financial position will enable us to continue to grow both organically and through acquisitions,” stated Stefano Pessina, the firm’s executive chairman.
