The subsidiary of Visant Corp. has acquired SAS Carestia, a leading producer of fragrance blotter cards.

NEW YORK — Arcade Marketing, a subsidiary of Visant Corp., has acquired SAS Carestia, a leading producer of fragrance blotter cards.

Carestia, founded in 1883, is headquartered in Grasse, France. The company also produces other products designed for fragrance trial, as well as decorated packaging solutions.

Arcade, which is more than 100 years old, is known as a pioneer in the use of scented strips for sampling fragrance. It also produces other multisensory and interactive sampling systems and packaging across the fragrance, cosmetics and personal care categories. Neither company disclosed any of the financial details of the deal, but industry sources estimate that Carestia generated between $10 million and $15 million in sales last year.

The company’s acquisition of Carestia was completed through Arcade’s European subsidiary, Arcade Europe SAS, which is headquartered in Paris, France. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
