Camuto Buys Stake in Sanctuary Clothing

Company founders Ken and Deb Polanco to work in tandem with Camuto to build lifestyle brand, beginning with expansion into footwear and accessories.

The Camuto Group has acquired a 50 percent stake in Sanctuary Clothing, the North Hollywood, Calif.-based company, in partnership with the company’s founders Ken and Deb Polanco.

Financial terms of the transactions weren’t disclosed.

Hillary Fritz, group president of designer apparel for the Camuto Group, will collaborate with the Sanctuary team to expand the existing business into a complete lifestyle brand, starting with footwear and accessories to complement the apparel collection.

The Camuto Group is based in Greenwich, Conn., and markets apparel and footwear. It owns the Vince Camuto and Arturo Chiang brands and is the master licensee for the Jessica Simpson Collection. Among its numerous holdings, it also has the footwear license for BCBGirls, BCBG Max Azria and Nicole Miller.
