BARCELONA — Karl Lagerfeld has inked a licensing deal with Spanish bridal manufacturer Rosa Clará to produce and distribute a minimum of 25 styles on a twice-yearly basis under the label Lagerfeld Collection.
Initially, the new line will be sold through Clará’s extensive retail network, which currently consists of 49 company-owned and franchised stores in Spain, two Portuguese locations (in Lisbon and Oporto) and three shops in Mexico. The Barcelona-based producer’s worldwide points of sale total about 1,000, with “significant” retail presence throughout Europe, the U.S. and Japan, all of which represent potential distribution channels for the Lagerfeld line, said a spokesman for Clará.
In addition, Clará plans to open five more stores in Mexico this year, and a Paris flagship is “imminent,” he added.
Founder Rosa Clará is generally credited with introducing designer labels into the Spanish bridal sector. Currently, the company holds licenses to Christian Lacroix and Madrid designers Jesús del Pozo and Modesto Lomba.
The Lagerfeld Collection is not expected to exceed Clará’s signature price accessibility: from 1,200 to 3,000 euros, or $1,440 to $3,600 at current exchange.
The new bridal line will be available at retail in October. No production or sales estimates were available.
