L’Oréal-eBay Dispute Delayed in French Courts

The French leg of L’Oréal’s multicountry legal wrangle with Internet auction site eBay is a case of going, going, not quite gone yet.

A decision in the case, which centers on the sale of counterfeit beauty products, will be handed down April 8, rather than today as originally expected. A spokeswoman for Paris’ Tribunal de Grande Instance said judgments may be postponed for numerous reasons, including the courts being overwhelmed with cases. In 2007, the French beauty giant initiated legal proceedings against eBay in a number of European Union countries.

Last year, a Belgian court found in favor of eBay, whereas proceedings began in London’s High Court of Justice earlier this week.
