L’Oreal Finalizes Decleor and Carita Purchase

The brands were bought from Shiseido Co. Ltd. for 227.5 million euros, or $315.5 at current exchange.

PARIS — L’Oréal said Wednesday it has finalized the acquisition of Decléor and Carita from Shiseido Co. Ltd. and completed the transfer of ownership.

As reported in February, Shiseido had agreed to sell the two brands to the French beauty giant for 227.5 million euros, or $315.4 million at current exchange. In October, Shiseido had entered talks with L’Oréal as the Japanese firm narrowed its brand portfolio.

Decléor and Carita — both French-born skin-care brands — are distributed in the professional and retail channels, particularly in Europe.

L’Oréal has stated that together, Carita and Decléor generated 2012 sales of approximately 100 million euros, or $128.6 million at average exchange for the period, which ranks the pair combined as number two in the global professional skin-care market across beauty institutes, spas and salons.
